Not only does this attract pilgrims from around the island but it is a major Sri Lanka tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world. A visit in July/August to Sri Lanka can be highly recommended as this is the season for the most colorful festival in Sri Lanka known as Kandy Perahera.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden: Peradeniya Garden is located about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It attracts 2 million visitors annually and is located near the Mahaweli River. This garden is famous for its collection of orchids.
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage: is an orphanage, nursery, and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka.

The old brick Post office, country house like hill club, with its hunting pictures, mounted hunting trophies and fish, and it’s strict formal dinner attire; the 18 hole golf course, race course etc., evoke nostalgia of Colonial British Ceylon.
